Supported hardware and firmware
The IXrouter runs a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server, which automatically and periodically syncs its own time with the IXON Cloud.
The Real Time Clock and NTP server built into the IXrouter allows the entire machine line connected to the IXrouter to sync their time, preventing time drift. This guarantees identical internal clocks.
Time zones
NTP does not acknowledge time zones, instead it manages all time information based on UTC. To convert UTC to local time, you'll need to apply the local time zone in the PLC/HMI itself.
How can I set NTP?
In order to use NTP on your PLC and HMI, perform the following steps:
- Enter the IXrouter's LAN IP address in the NTP settings of the PLC/HMI.
- If possible, apply the correct time zone in your PLC/HMI's settings.
NTP and Cloud Logging
Cloud Logging timestamps are based on UTC. After pulling the data from the PLC or HMI, the data is timestamped and pushed to the cloud. Therefore, altering the local time in a PLC/HMI won't affect Cloud Logging data.
