Our developers are constantly trying to improve the quality of our services. Making changes in the IXrouter firmware is sometimes required to fix bugs or to add new features. Incidentally it may happen that you downloaded the latest firmware and found that the firmware contains a bug applicable to your specific situation.
These next steps show you how to upgrade/downgrade your IXrouter's firmware on the IXON Cloud.
Support for remote firmware upgrade/downgrade
Support for this feature was added on the IXrouter2 in firmware 2.7 and on the IXrouter3 in firmware 3.1. If your IXrouter is running an older firmware version, don't hesitate to contact us. We can manually upgrade your firmware remotely.Patch notes
The patch notes are visible on the IXON Cloud right where you initiate a firmware upgrade/downgrade, see the steps below.- Go to [Devices] in the main menu
, select the concerning device
, press [∙∙∙] in the info section
, and select [Firmware upgrade]
.
Temporary disconnect
After this next step, "start upgrade", the IXrouter will reboot as part of the upgrade/downgrade process. This means that all communication running via the IXrouter will be temporarily interrupted. For example, this includes communication between a PLC and HMI if they are both connected the LAN side of the IXrouter. Don't worry, the IXrouter will automatically boot up and reconnect. The firmware upgrade/downgrade may take 2-5 minutes.- You'll see a list of all available firmware versions, including patch notes. Select a version and press [Start upgrade].
Warning!
Do NOT turn off or unplug the IXrouter while it's upgrading!
