You decide what users can do by specifying which permissions these users have and what devices they have access to. This is important to maintain a clear, secure, and shielded environment when having users from different departments or parties in your company.
This article shows every possibility to specify access to devices and user permissions, so you can choose the best suitable practice for your situation.
Alternatively, you can make use of sub-companies as a way of managing access.
Access to devices
There are different options available when granting access to devices. Access can be granted for specific users and user groups. This access can be granted to specific devices and device categories. User groups and device categories play a large role in simplifying the "access" process and can save you time later on.
Example - use case
For example, you've granted user group A access to device category X. If you then later add a user to user group A, he'll automatically have access to all devices in device category X. If you add a device (IXrouter or IXagent) to device category X, then all users from user group A will automatically have access to this device. Meaning there's no need to individually specify which people have access to which devices.
Additionally, users can be granted access to all devices. Below is an overview.
